Hi! everyone. Would someone tell me what "be" in the following sentence means? I know the meaning of "be gone" but why is the first "be" there, when the latter is serving the purpose effectively? "since I successfully resisted that, to get through with my work as soon as might be and be gone." Thanks!
Top answer
to get through with my work as soon as might be, and (then) be gone "as soon as might be" means as soon as possible.
