'Be-all and end-all'
'Be-all and end-all' is a noun.
When used as an adjective (yes or no?), would we place hyphens throughout like this? I think you'd have to.

But it's used in everyday speech, so why avoid it? I think it's a good expression for non-native speakers to learn and use. Incidentally, it's a NOUN PHRASE, not an adjective.

I didn't meant it shoul be avoided in speech. I meant it was clumsy when in written form with all those hyphens.
