BBS (bulletin board system); Internet Forum
Do they mean the same thing?
BTW, here in Japan some people seem to be using the Japanese equivalent of just ‘Board’ for this. Do you do that too? Also, are there any other terms for this?

BBS used to mean the text-mode base environment, gathering newsgroup articles. Usually we use telnet to connect to BBS. Forums is usually web-base, can put image on, using browsers to visit.
