BBC Question : with hand-sewn embroidered dragons...

"The Queen arrived at the castle with the King by her side, in a dress adorned with hand-sewn embroidered dragons." What kind of mistake is this?

I go this question from BBC quiz:

http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-22512744

The answer they show is "misplaced modifier", but I can't locate which one exactly went wrong in the sentence.

My two suspects are 1. the King by her side, in a dress <- sounds like King is in a dress

1. the King by her side, in a dress <- sounds like King is in a dress

2. adorned with hand-sewn embroidered dragons <-too many modifiers, but I don't know why it sounds that wrong; maybe hand-sewn embroidered part?

Thank you for reading this and have a nice day!

The sentence suggests that it might be the king wearing the dress. The comma does not preclude that possibility.
