First of all, I'm really thankful for your clear explaining but I still have a little confusion.
I have the sentence: " the really *big change LIES NOT IN THE TYPE OF TRANSPORT". The same meaning? but lies not- i don't see DO/ DOES...?

In this case "lies not" means the same as "does not lie".

The meaning of "lie" is similar to that in the first sentence. "X lies in Y" means that Y constitutes X, or is important to X, or is necessary to X, or some meaning similar to this.
