"Bazaar" ?

I often hear someone say "this is bazaar!"(not sure is this the correct spelling). What does it mean?

"(not sure is this the correct spelling) Hello, Lyn—and welcome to English Forums. It is not; it is a different word: bizarre . If you look up that word in your dictionary, I think the meaning of your sentence will become clear.

Hi

No not quite the right spelling ...

- This is bizarre!
[= Odd, strange or extravagant]
It comes from the Spanish for beard, presumably because men have used beards to show that they are different from others

The other word is 'bazaar' which means market place. Apparently that's from Persian, so the two words are not related

Bazaar is a proper word, but if we use it in this sentence, "this is bazaar!"; it would be "This is a (the) bazaar!"
