Basketball / tennis ball ( articles)

Hello,

You have to change the order of following words and make a correct sentence.

bigger / tennisball / basketball / is / than / .

"Basketball is bigger than tennisball." (This was shown as a correct answer.)

Is this sentence grammatically correct?

Is it okay if the articles such as "a" or "the" omitted before "basketball" and "tennisball"??
Why are there no articles in the sentence?

To me, "Basketballs are bigger than tennis balls." or "A basketball is bigger than a tennis ball." look better.

Also, is the word "tennisball" one word, or does it have to be "tennis ball"...?

I'm getting confused with this sentence, so can anyone help me, please?

Thank you so much for your help in advance!

Thank you so much for the reply, Cool Breeze :-)

The sentence is obviously about the size of the *****, I think, so I thought the sentence(the answer) was wrong.

Well, this question was actually appeared on an English exam at a school.
Can you say that the question itself had a problem?
Or, even though it is grammatically incorrect, is this sentence acceptable?

It looks to me like a poorly constructed question.
It's "tennis ball" not "tennisball."

To me, "Basketballs are bigger than tennis *****." or "A basketball is bigger than a tennis ball." look better.

I see, my understanding looks okay. Also, as I thought, it's not a "tennisball" but a "tennis ball."

Thanks again for your help.
