Basic Excel skills, advanced Excel skills

Hi,

Background:
When we use MS Excel, I am able to make graphs, to make tables and to use Excel functions to perform some calculations.

Question1:

Can I use the word "skills" to represent all above things?
Question2:
Can I say the following sentence?

Sentence:

At the beginning, I had some basic Excel skills only, but I did not understand most of the advanced Excel skills.

Thanks

Hi, It would be better to change "advanced Excel skills" through "advanced Excel features" At the beginning I only had some basic excel skills, but I did not understand most of the advanced (Excel) features. Wait for other opinions

Hi,

I don't disgaree with Alex's advice.

I'd prefer 'In the beginning', or perhaps 'At the start'.

In your sentence, you don't seem to be saying anything special. I mean, what you are saying is true of everyone who learns Excel, isn't it?

Hi,

"'what you are saying is true of everyone who learns Excel, isn't it?"

Yes. Most people will learn Excel in this way, although someone will learn it in University computer class.
