"barely no sleep" it is a correct phrase

Hey there,

I wonder if "barely no sleep" is grammatically correct. I don't think so. I would say "I barely sleep" or "I got no sleep".

"Barely" is a negative word, so it can't occur with "no" or "not" or "never." Other negative words like "barely" are "hardly" and "scarcely."

Hi,

The phrase you are probably thinking of it eg 'Last night I got barely any sleep', meaning only a very small amount of sleep.

"Barely no sleep" = "I slept pretty much all night, even though I wanted to be awake the whole time" :-)

I think this is the opposite of what you were looking for . Similar wrong phrase that is a famous tattoo on the internet is "don't never give up", which really means "always give up".
