Bare/bear

Is the correct way to say "please bare with me" bare or bear??

Anyway,I've found this somewhere: “Bear with me,” the standard expression, is a request for forbearance or patience. “Bare with me” would be an invitation to undress.

If it makes you feel better, I've used the wrong one and gotten some very humorous responses. The other one to not mix up is baited breath/bated breath. (It's "bated." If you write "baited" someone will probably write back and ask if you have any extra worms. Trust me. I know about that from experience too.)

So don't worry - native speakers mess up on those too.
