"bare apart from" what does it mean?

Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble understanding this sentence:

"Bare apart from"

My exemple sentence is the following:

His fridge was bare apart from three very withered tomatoes.

I think it has something to do with "limited quantity, or a few units of an item"

thanks a lot
