Banned Female Drivers

The oil-rich Kingdom is envied by all means. It's surrounded by all enemies' plans which are war-like such as destroying most of the Islamic values and morals. Once they have recognized that they can't achieve their aims, they move directly to the easily-deceived part of the society. They start to ruin the Saudi females calling for their stolen rights as they pretend.

A group of women activists have recently protested the ban by driving cars through the country.

They have also sent a 1,100- signature petition to King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz, citing the lack of any religious reasoning against the ban.

In 1990, a group of 47 women drove 15 cars in the capital Riyadh in defiance to the state ban.

They were swiftly rounded up by police and penalized, while their male guardians were reprimanded.

Occupying the drivers' seats is the most killing gun whose fire burns all the Saudi woman dignity, respect and shyness. Actually most of the foreign ladies admire the treatment for the Saudi ladies in their society. They describe them as the queens in their kingdoms. The doors are opened for them and the cars are driven for them, too. They are above all the lower and tough deeds such as changing wheels or going to punctures.

Therefore, driving cars isn't suitable for the ladies' phases of life especially when they are pregnant or getting birth.

In 1991 , a fatwa was issued by then mufti and head of the Council of Senior Ulema (Muslim scholars), Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz, prohibiting women from driving cars.

So our religion looks for respecting and caring for the ladies. It prohibits indulging women with males' work or even travel alone. It protects them from the World's devils. What a protection!

On the other hand, I am not against teaching women driving cars. Sometimes they face certain difficult moments. As it happened in a village in KSA, a girl was captured by the police for driving a car. Once they investigated her; she proclaimed that she serves her old sick parents with no male.

Also, allowing women to drive cars may help in decreasing the number of the multi-nationality drivers whose presence make more troubles in our conservative society.

Although this matter has two advantages, I still like the lady whose treatment is a queen-like in her kingdom. She is a mixture of emotions and physical shape. She can't bear crashes, noise or gas smell. Physically she is so soft to do such complicated and tough deed as driving vehicles.
