Hello,

In England, Scotland and Ireland "bank holiday" means "public holiday," right?

Are there "bank holidays" in the US? If so, what is it like?

I read so many British authors that sometimes I forget whether something is U.S. or not, but on this one, I can confirm that we do use it in certain contexts. I hear the term 'legal holiday'. In the business world, I've heard 'statutory holiday', usually shortened to a 'stat holiday'.
