Bangs and bumps

Hi

Is this sentence natural, especially the use of bangs and bumps?

The car skidded, turned over and fell heavily into the ravine. Miraculously, the driver was not hurt badly. He only suffered a few bangs and bumps.

There is nothing wrong with it, exactly, but there are expressions for that that are so much more usual that it sounds like you are groping for variety or don't know the idiom—"bumps and bruises" and "bumps and scratches" come to mind.
