Band-Aids. The term is still a trademark one: Main Entry: 2 Band-Aid Function: trademark -- used for a small adhesive strip with a gauze pad for covering minor wounds I would use the term bandage or other.

Don't worry about using it. A bandage is completely different to a band-aid (or plaster as we call them in British English). This is one of the cases where a famous brand name becomes the most commonly used name for an object - even if it not actually made by them. Other examples are hoovers and sellotape.

Sellotape is definitely spelled with an s in Britain.

Our version of white-out is Tippex (another brand name).

I just wondered if it might be related to cellophane.
