ball under masks

Hello,

Is there expression for ball under masks? Is the rest of the sentence ok?Do you have some suggestions?

Perhaps you will meet him at the ball under masks in the town of Samobor, in the costume of a character from a reneissance comedy who talked the old doctor into letting/lending??? him his young wife for a night, under the outrageous/incredible excuse.

Hi,

The term 'a masked ball' is reasonably common. Verdi has an opera called 'Un ballo in maschera'.

Best wishes, Clive
