Ball to talk as if it was his bunny

Dale the Sten-Gun Steyn has absolutely destroyed the Indian batting line-up in just about 35 minutes of mad-cap bowling after Tea. He has his career-best figures now and the spell after Tea reads an amazing 3.4-2-3-5. He got the ball to talk as if it was his bunny, superb bowling and one which has not been seen on Indian soil for a long time. India have an uphill task of saving this match. Can they do a Kolkata in 2001 or Napier in 2009? We will know when they walk out to bat in 5 minutes..

Could you please explain to me the emboldened parts?

I wonder how one could talk with a ball and what it means by "bunny" also here. Though I know "bunny" means "a rabit" in general.
