Can I say,

(a) The bakery shop is next to the bank UMP.

(b) The bakery is next to the UMP bank.

I was trying to think how " bakery shop " can be fitted into a context without the feeling of sounding bumpy. Somehow " bakery shop " doesn't sound right to me. Perhaps a " bake shop".

Which would you pick ?

Yes, saying 'bake shop' sounds more natural than 'bakery shop' to me, too.
I normally only use 'bakery', however, and I feel certain that I have never and will never say 'bakery shop'.
