Bad grammer?

I recieved an email that had the phrase "the current issue at hand" this doesnt sound right to me. It sounds like a double something, but I'm not sure what to call it.

I agree it sounds a bit redundant: 'the current issue' or 'the issue at hand' would be better. However, it is possible to have more than one issue that is 'current,' just waiting for another to be resolved.
