Bad check

Hi there,

If someone pay sth by check and there isn't any money in his/her account then what do we call that check?

Can it be refered to as a "bad check"?

Any help is highly appreciated in advance,

Iman

Yes, it is casually referred to as a bad check, hot check, bounced check, or sometimes even rubber check (though this particular idiom is not anywhere near as common as it used to be). In banking or other more formal conversation or writing, it might be referred to as an NSF check ( n on- s ufficient f unds). -S
