back of the mouth

tonsil
noun [C usually plural]
one of two small soft organs at the back of the mouth.

Could you tell me what the "back of the mouth" means?

They are talking about inside the mouth/throat - pretty much where the throat and mouth join. The neck is not at the back of the mouth.
