Awkward sentence

Below are a couple of sentences describing a tourist's first time in a Western bookstore:

"At first, I felt extremely uncomfortable sitting down with a book. I was constantly looking over my shoulder, afraid a seller might come up to me in any minute and tell me to either buy the book or leave. But when..."

The situation is pretty much self-explanatory. What bothers me is "might" and "in any minute;" something just doesn't add up in that middle part. It sounds weird, and I cannot figure out a way to fix it.

Can a native speaker help me?

'Might' is OK. I'll fix the other: At first, I felt extremely uncomfortable sitting down with a book. I was constantly looking over my shoulder, afraid a seller might come up to me any minute and tell me to either buy the book or leave.
