Awkward grammar

OK so im writing this sentence describing how this person needed me but now i need them. i have no idea how the sentence should work itself out. idk if it should be "'Cause its i who need you now" or "'Cause its me who needs you now" or something else. I prefer the latter but the former sounds like it'd be the awkward yet correct one. Help asap! im submitting to a poetry contest.

The first is demanded by some conservative grammarians; the second is more natural; but don't forget the 'be-' of 'because', the '-s' on the first 'need', and the apostrophe in 'it's'.
