Aware or Conscious?

I stopped wearing glasses a year ago, and now I wear contacts. I am so used to them that sometimes I am not aware/conscious of wearing them.

Are they both acceptable?

Yes, but to my ear "aware" has the tiny disadvantage of being so close to "wearing" that we hear /w?r/ twice in a row (/?w?r?vw?r??/).
