'aware of' in questions

Hi teachers,
Do we always have to use the preposition 'of' after the adjective 'aware' in a question?
Eg.
What was everybody aware of?

No. Are you politically aware? In your example, of is mandatory.

  • However, if you don’t mind sounding a bit pedantic, you can use the preposition before the adjective: Of what was everybody aware?

Are you politically aware?

In your example, of is mandatory. However, if you don’t mind sounding a bit pedantic, you can use the preposition before the adjective: Of what was everybody aware?

Aspara GusGenerally, if aware means having knowledge (of), use of. If it means knowledgeable or alert, do not use of.
