Awakened or Awoken?

Hi guys, I know this may be a first but I'm currently posting this question because I'm not sure of which word to use. I came up with a phrase that says Awakened/Awoken amidst slumber. Any idea which is the more proper word to use?

Before you guys decide, I would like to explain the meaning of this phrase. It actually means that I feel awakened when I dream (which occurs during sleep) On the other hand, there is a need to face reality and wake up from your dreams at some times. In this case, can the word "Awoken" be used similarly in both contexts?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
