Avoiding repetition of names

Hello! Do you have some advice on how to avoid repeating the same name of an animal over and over again? I'm doing an assignment and have to describe a few animals in detail. I find myself writing ''owl'' way too often. Many thanks!

FredrikKaspersen I find myself writing owl way too often. On a very specific topic, it is difficult to avoid repeating nouns, but consider structuring more complex sentences and employing pronouns. Owls are also 'nocturnal raptors' and 'strigids', but I doubt that those will fit smoothly into the register of your essay.
