Hi everyone. I'm about to start an EFL Master's program at my university next semester, and next March we have a one-year teacher-exchange contract with a Japanese university that happens to have a fairly intense English and Aviation program. I've been studying Japanese for 6 years and actually attended a summer session at this university, where I picked up a brochure on their "Flight Operations Program." As I've always been interested in aviation I decided to go into EFL and teach Aviation English in Japan, but my university has no curriculum outside of the basic ESL/EFL coursework, so I'm not sure what qualifications I need. I saw in the brochure that one of the American faculty members at this Japanese university has ICAO Level 6 certification, so I can only assume that will help. Will an EFL M.A. and ICAO certification be enough? And how do I get ICAO certification?
Thanks, Neal
