I am available for/to work next week.

Am I correct in thinking it is acceptable to either "for" or "to" in the sentence above?

In my opinion, "to" is preferrable because it leaves no question about you being the one who will DO the work. "For" may have the flexibility of implying that someone would go to you to receive work...

Yes, but recognize that 'work' is a noun in 'available for work' and a verb in 'available to work'.
