AUXILLARY VERB "GET"

Could you tell me if GET is the right word in these sentences please?



  • We will never get caught off guard by them.



  • I can’t wait for the weather to get hot.



  • Try to get them not to think you’re not lying/prevent them from thinking that…



  • I won’t be able to do everything that I’ve got planned for today.



  • I’ll try to finish/be finished by tonight.

Where you have get - they are fine. All the sentences work except the middle one. Try to get them not to think you’re not lying/prevent them from thinking that… There is a double negative here and it is confusing.

Where you have get - they are fine. All the sentences work except the middle one. Try to get them not to think you’re not lying/prevent them from thinking that… There is a double negative here and it is confusing. Try to prevent them from thinking or try to get them to think are ok but the sentence as it stands means try to get them to think you are lying. I'm not sure that is the meaning yo
