Auxiliary Pres.Cont. to Pres.Simple

Hello, I've come across this in a BBC Vocabulary lesson:

-You know me, I'm talking about it {the weather} all the time.-Yes, you do, actually. Is this immediate shift from Present Continuous to Present Simple frequent/natural/obvious? It's puzzling for me because the answer is yes, but it's instantly softened. I think I understand why it was said, but how common is it? Have you ever said / Would you say anything like this?

anonymous -You know me, I'm talking about it {the weather} all the time. -Yes, you do, actually. This does not actually follow.

  • anonymous -You know me, I'm talking about it {the weather} all the time.
  • -Yes, you do, actually.
  • This does not actually follow.
  • It should logically be "you are" not "you do".
  • However, this small slip would largely go unnoticed in ordinary conversation.
