author's intervention

I am looking for an abbreviation which is used in interviews, but not only in interviews. For instance when the author of the text intervenes in the words of another person, that is in the middle of the interview.It is usually written in brackets and serves as a kind of comment on a part of the text.

I see what you mean... My Harrap's tells me it's called an "editor's note"... But doesn't say it has any specific abbreviation to it.
