Atypical? untypical?

What is the difference between ATYPICAL and UNTYPICAL?

Although I looked up the two words in many dictionaries, due to the fact that the scantiness of explanation and a shortage of exemple sentences, I could not find out how they are different from each other.

In meaning, no difference. But, in general usage, atypical is used much more frequently than untypical , espceically in formal writing. )

In meaning, no difference. But, in general usage, atypical is used much more frequently than untypical, espceically in formal writing. In scientific/medical text untypical not used (or used extremely rarely.)
