Attributed with or attributed to

I was reading this article about learning, and I came across this sentence:

The projecting person may become identified with the person upon whom he/she is projecting, or the subject may identify him/herself with the projected material-the process known ad projective identification. In this process, the 'content' attributed with the other person(external object) may be reintrojected, or taken back inside by the projecting person.

I read and re-read the sentence but I can't get the meaning. Does it mean the same as 'attributed to'?
