Attractive and Charming

I know these are synonymous.

I think we'd describe someone as "attractive" because of their appearance - qualities which might be judged from a photo, as well as in person. We call a person "charming" when we're pleased by their mannerisms and the way they interact with others. Even the verbs, "to attract" and "to charm" carry this distinction.
