Attend, care for, look after , watch a baby

Hi,

When Mom is busy cooking, she asks her three-year-old son to watch her five-month-old baby.

Do you think the word "watch" is the best word for this sentence?
How about "attend", "care for", or "look after"?

I often see a warning "never leave a child unattended". Is 'unattended' closest to 'unwatched' ?

Thank you very much.

'Watch' in this sense is mainly used in AmE.

In the UK we say 'I'm going out for a bit. Mind your sister'.
