"Attempted" synonym
In this sentence, is "tried" an OK synonym for attempted, or would something else work better?
I appear to have used "tried" once already in the piece, but "attempted" twice, hence the change.
"I just continued to spend hours practicing for my lessons, and tried to play more complicated pieces of music there with Mr Pash"
