A/the police officer

What's the difference between:

"Which one of you two is a police officer?"

"Which one of you two is the police officer?"

Does the definite article imply some police officer which has been mentioned before and maybe expected there, while "a" is less emphatic and more descriptive ("What are you"? "A police officer"?

Thank you.
