A/THE new movie

Question

Hi i have a problem with this sentence.

We´ve watched A/THE new movie at a cinema.I can´t remember the name

I mean certain movie that i saw, but i can´t remember the name, so it will be A or THE? thanks

Generally speaking it works like this.

We watched a new movie ... if the subject of movies hasn't come up yet in the conversation. You are more likely to start a conversation with this form.
We watched the new movie ... if the subject of movies has already come up in the conversation. You are more likely to continue a conversation which has already begun with this form. In this case there is also the implication that there is only one new movie available to be watched, so your listener won't have to ask "Which new movie?"

Whenever you use "the" in a case where your listener can logically ask "Which?" you've used "the" incorrectly. Using "the" is a claim that you have uniquely specified what you are talking about.

To me, the natural verb to use is see, not watch.
