A/the difference?

Can I use the word difference without any articles? For example:

  • There is difference between life in the USA and England
  • Is there difference between life in the USA and England.
  • Difference between life in the USA and England is not big.

Or I shoud a/the in all the sentences?

By the way, should I add the definite article before the word life in all the above written sentences?

Thanks in advance!
