A/the difference

When I say what's the difference between I refer to two things/people/ideas etc

When can I use What is a difference...

Is there a difference...

Is there any difference in meaning among these three sentences?

Thanks in advance

normally you can say what is the difference between A and B? Is there a/any difference in meaning between these three sentences (I would say 'between' here, although I might be wrong) Difference can be conceptualised as both countable and uncountable depending on the context.
