A/the/- context

Can you please tell me which article I need before the word "context"?

"It's hard to understand the boy, especially when ____ context is unknown."

I would choose "a". Am I right?

Thank you

Hotmale I would choose "a". Am I right? "a" is not wrong, but "the" is my choice, and probably the choice of many other native speakers.

  • To me it's the context in which the boy is speaking , so it's definite enough to need the definite article "the".
