At young ages

I have made up (1) below.

(1) Jack and his father are two of the best musicians in the world. At young ages, when they played music in international classical music concerts, they received a lot of famous musicians' praise for their talents.

My non-native English speaking friends revised "at young ages" to make "at their young ages". Their revision is (2) below.

(2) Jack and his father are two of the best musicians in the world. At their young ages, when they played music in international classical music concerts, they received a lot of famous musicians' praise for their talents.

Who is correct? Please help me. Many thanks.
