At university or in the university?

Again, I am not sure of the differences between the two. Are they both correct? If so, are they different in meaning?

Thank you.

They're both correct. I'd say that "at university" and "in hospital" are British. If you use "at university" and "in the university" in sentences, we can better advise if there's a difference in meaning.

Thank you very much for the explanation.
Example: I would like to do maths at university/in the university/in an university.
In this case, which is correct and which is not?

US: I would like to do maths at a university/at the university/in a university/in the university/at university level.
GBr I would like to do maths at university.

In the US, we say, I would like to attend college, but
I would like to attend a university.
