Hello, Which one would sound better in: John: I joined the army in June, 2005. Sam: Really? Wow...You must have been 17 and a half at the time/that time.
How do you use them in general? I think that "at that time" is more specific than "at the time". That's not necessarily true. Neither would surprise me. What's the difference in your opinion?
