At the perfect time

Is this sentence natural?

It started raining at the perfect time; right the second we got home.

Thank you

Top answer

Yes, it's natural, but the punctuation is not quite right. I would use a dash or colon there.

"right the second" doesn't work for me.

the very second we got home
right at the moment we got home

That works too, but I'd use a colon for the internal punctuation in that case.
