At the nearest table

Is it correct?

Don't deny it! Someone heard you from the nearest table.

Context: The people seated at one of the tables of a restaurant heard the conversation of the couple seated at the table next to theirs. Now, the man, who wasn't aware of that, tries to deny his own words. I don't want to identify the people that were listening, that's why I used 'someone'. Is it possible this way or should I say instead: 'The people at the next (nearest) table heard what you said.'
