At the edges of her vision

Hi

She saw shadows flitting around at the edges of her vision.

--- Does it mean that she only caught glimpses of those shadows?

I think it's open to interpretation. "To flit" can describe (let's say) both aspects of a hummingbird's flight - the hovering, and the sudden darting from place to place. " Sometimes these things only seem to appear in our peripheral vision.
