"At that time, she was tired after celebrating Christmas with her family. Kevin's call was inopportune, since it always put a bad temper to wake her when she was resting as her mother did on that occasion, which, despite realizing Kevin's scanty possibilities, had an appreciation for him."

She was sleeping when Kevin called and her mother woke her up. She was angry about that.
He mother was watching TV.
Kevin had no chance to be her boyfriend.
