"At that moment, he realized that his nephew swiftly climbed the stairs to the room he occupied during part of his childhood, adolescence and even adulthood. The concern for the integrity of his things appeared as an inexorable ghost."

The sentence would be okay if the word "had" is inserted between the words "nephew" and "swiftly."
